3 Summer Car Repairs & Service Issues

Posted by & filed under Auto Repair.

Ah, summer. A time of vacations, beach trips and sitting outside. Of course, it can be hard to get to all your summer destinations without a car that’s not working like it should be. No matter where you live or are going, whether it’s Crystal, Minneapolis or Valley Place, car repairs and service are essential to ensuring your summer travel plans aren’t thwarted.

What plagues cars the most during these sunny times? Here are three of the most common we’ve noticed over the years at Auto Electric & Full Service Auto Repair:

Overheating engines

You’ve probably seen this happen before: your engine temperature gauge goes up and a light comes on. Usually, overheated engines are caused by thermostat issues; broken or slipped serpentine belts; low coolant levels; or a water pump failure. Whatever the case may be, when you see that temperature gauge begin to rise, bring your car in so we can check it out.

Air conditioner not working properly

Summer car trips are no fun with a non-working air conditioner. If you notice your air conditioner is blowing hot air or not blowing at all, it could be because of a bad air conditioner compressor, no Freon or leaking lines. If your air conditioner isn’t keeping you cool, then you should bring your car in to Auto Electric so we can check it out.

Check engine light comes on

Have you ever been taking a trip to Lake Minnetonka and the dreaded check engine light has come on? This has happened to all of us at one point and time. If this happens to you, then first check your gas cap. It might not be on tight enough. If this doesn’t do the trick, then it could be a faulty sensor at work, most likely in your oxygen or oil systems.

Don’t let car repair and service issues prevent you from having a great summer. Call Auto Electric today at 763-537-1221 to schedule an appointment.
