Check Your Car Before You Wreck Your Car

With right and proper maintenance and care, expensive car repairs can be avoided. Auto Electric MN is a car repair shop in Golden Valley and we would like to share a couple of tips that can help you avoid costly repair and safely keep your car on the road.

Check Your Fluids

Fluids under the hood can be tricky. You simply may not possess the know-how to change or drain fluids in your car, but you at a minimum need to be able to check and verify your fluid levels, to ensure that they are where they need to be. With some fluids you should be able to peek and see if they are at the right level, but others will need to be checked with a gauge or dipstick. It is advisable that you are aware of how to do these things on your own. That way, if you see that a fluid level is low, you can bring it to an car repair shop like ours and we can get everything refilled back up to where it should be.

Check Your Owner’s Manual

Break out that car manual and enjoy a good read! Learn the suggested maintenance and car repair schedule it urges for your car. Many people believe that they should get their car’s oil changed every 3,000 miles, but this policy does not apply to every make and model. Some vehicles only call for an oil change every 5,000 to 7,500 miles! Looking into what your owner’s manual has to say will give you insight into a lot of specifics about your vehicle. Most of the newer cars on the road should have a feature within the car that will monitor the oil and the oil quality to alert you as to when the oil needs to be changed. You can bring it to our car repair shop like ours, and we can get it changed and have you back on the road in no time!

Check Your Tires

Your tires really are amongst the most important items on your car. Being that they are the lone items that come in contact with the road, you need to be sure to regularly verify your tire pressure—one every week or two—especially if the temperatures are extreme in either direction (hot or cold) for a long stretch of time. The pounds per square inch your tires require vary from vehicle type to model and are found on the inside of your car door or in your owner’s manual. Whenever you find yourself in need of a new set of tires (or less), call our car repair shop because we can get you squared away there too.
