Routine Auto Care Tips

Posted by & filed under Auto Repair.

As a shop that specializes in auto care in Golden Valley, we have a few suggestions for you on what you can do at home to keep your car up and running efficiently. After all, you rely on your car almost every day. Taking care of these tasks can help keep your car on the road that much longer.

Once a Month

Every month, as part of your routine auto care maintenance check list, make sure your car’s oil levels are at the right amount. If the oil level is low, make sure you add oil.

You should also inspect your car’s hoses to make sure they aren’t in need of repair. Keep an eye out for hoses that are rotting or brittle. Bulging hoses are also a sign you need a new one, so make sure they are all in good shape.

Are your car’s belts in good shape? Are there any that are frayed or look like they are about to snap? If so, make sure this auto care task gets taken care of as soon as possible! You don’t want to have one break as you’re driving down the road.

Check your car’s tire pressure. Proper tire pressure makes for a smoother ride, plus it could help increase your car’s gas mileage and save you a few bucks on fuel.

Every Three Months

Make sure your car’s oil and filters have been changed. Most manufacturers recommend taking care of this every 3,000 miles or every three months. (Although some newer cars can go as long as 5,000 miles. Check your car’s owner’s manual if you aren’t sure.)

Check all of the fluids in your car, like windshield washer fluid and power steering fluid. Make sure there is plenty in your car so it continues to run at its peak performance level.

Taking the time to look over these routine auto care chores could help you stay on the road longer and safer. And if you need assistance with your car, be sure to bring it to the pros here at Auto Electric. We are the experts in auto care in Golden Valley.
